We're Just Dating, Defined - Put A Stop To All The Misunderstandings!
"What time do you want to go to my family's house on Christmas Eve?" you ask your partner of two months. You're looking forward to introducing him/her to your family because you've been bragging to them that your relationship has been fantastic so far.
That is, until you hear their response to your question.
"Oh," they say, turning a little red. "I didn't think we'd be spending Christmas together with each other's families. You know, we're just dating."
"Oh, of course," you say, "I knew that."
You proceed to go home, shut off your cell phone, block them on your Instant Messenger friend list, and write them a 5-page email explaining that they led you on to think you were special, and that you need to break up with them now.
If you did not get that far yet, then listen up. You see, there is a "Type A" sort of date, and there's a "Type B". Simply put, one isn't worth it, and the other has potential.
Let's begin with "Type A". This one is usually a real charmer. They can either be shy or outspoken, but certain traits definitely set Type A apart from the rest. Believe me; you will know if you're dating Type A.
He or she often breaks plans with you at the last moment. Type A will not make a habit of picking you up at your house for a date - you will usually have to meet them somewhere.
Their good friends will usually even be around on your dates. Type A tends to be selfish, materialistic, and perpetually unsatisfied with every little thing and everyone they come across.
But do not despair. You may just have yourself a "Type B" instead.
You are attracted to their kindness of heart, and this really is what makes them irresistible to you. They show respect for you.
He or she tends to be smart and analytical, looking at a decision from all angles before making it. She or he claims not to want to hurt you by jumping into a relationship too quickly. So they tell you that perhaps you should "just date" for now. You're taking this as an insult, a blow-off line, an easy way out.
But stop! Turn that telephone back on. You date is not taking it lightly. I know, when you are infatuated with a person it is not easy to be patient. But Type B might be worth the wait.
Remember, familiarity breeds comfort. Let Type B get used to you. Make it possible for them want to be with you, and you alone. Let them make the moves. Allow them to come to you when they're ready.
